Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI in Education, Human-Centered AI, Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, Human-Computer Interaction

The NLP Research Group focuses on advancing models for human language understanding and generation, with a strong emphasis on large language models (LLMs) and their interpretability. Our work spans text processing, machine learning for language, and large-scale linguistic data analysis. We combine theoretical insights with applied research in multilingual, multimodal, and responsible AI contexts. The group collaborates with academia and industry to develop and evaluate robust, high-impact NLP systems.

Building Intelligent Language Technologies

We design, fine-tune, and evaluate state-of-the-art NLP architectures, including large language models for text understanding, dialogue systems, and generation in multilingual and domain-specific environments.

From Data to Meaning

Our research integrates linguistic theory, neural architectures, and LLM-based representations to create interpretable, data-efficient, and adaptive language processing systems.

Collaborative and Applied Research

We engage in joint projects and applied studies with industrial and academic partners, exploring practical applications of LLMs and NLP technologies in conversational AI, education, and digital transformation.

Artificial Intelligence and Multi-agent systems

The Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Multi-Agent Systems (AI-MAS) has been in the front run of AI research, teaching, and application development since its founding in 2001. We believe that AI models and technologies can improve users’ experience and systems’ performance in a plethora of domains, such as medical systems and eHealth, learning platforms, web services, e-business, assisted living, and many others.

Advancing the Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence
