Course Instructor: Razvan Rughinis.
The course introduces at theoretical and practical level the main current technologies of Internet communication, as well as interconnecting mechanisms for local area networks. The course focuses on several aspects: institutions and standardization mechanisms for Internet communication protocols, constraints imposed by current WAN technologies in local area networks, challenges brought by the necessity to configure heterogeneous communication networks, scaling strategies for local area networks or for WANs, security provision, comparative analyses of different network protocols, and presenting novel interconnecting technologies, currently under standardization.
